Privacy notice

1. Who we are

Imsa Search is a domain name advisory based in Chicago, Illinois. This notice explains what personal information we collect through this website and in the course of an engagement, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. Questions go to sarah@imsasearch.com.

2. What we collect

When you use the enquiry form we receive the domain you ask about, your company, your name, your email address, any budget or offer you state, and the notes you write. The Worker that receives the form also records the IP address the enquiry came from, which we use only to identify abuse.

During an engagement we may also hold your registrar account identifier, the details of an escrow transaction, correspondence with you, and copies of signed agreements.

This site sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. The contact page loads Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from automated traffic; Turnstile may set a cookie for that purpose, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives the request headers needed to serve them.

3. Why we use it

To answer your enquiry; to negotiate, document and settle a transaction you have asked us to run; to meet our obligations to the escrow agent and to registrars; and to keep a record of what was agreed. We do not use your information for marketing, we do not build profiles, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.

4. Who sees it

Sarah Caldwell, who handles every enquiry. Where a transaction proceeds, the escrow agent (Escrow.com) and the registrars involved receive the details needed to run the transfer. Our email and hosting are provided by Cloudflare, which processes the data on our behalf. We disclose information to nobody else unless the law requires it.

On a represented acquisition your identity is not disclosed to the seller unless you tell us in writing to disclose it.

5. How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to an engagement are deleted within twelve months. Records of completed transactions, including agreements and escrow confirmations, are kept for seven years to meet accounting and tax obligations and to evidence title. Email correspondence is kept for the same period where it forms part of a transaction record.

6. Your choices

You can ask at any time what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We will do so within thirty days, except where we are required to keep a transaction record. Write to sarah@imsasearch.com from the address you used with us.

If you received an email from us about a domain name and would prefer not to hear from us again, reply with the word "stop" and you will not.

7. Security

The site is served over HTTPS only. Enquiries are delivered to a single mailbox with two-factor authentication. Domain registrations are held in locked accounts as described on the services page. No system is perfectly secure, and if we ever became aware of a breach affecting your information we would tell you promptly.

8. Changes

If this notice changes, the date at the top will change with it. Material changes will be noted here for thirty days.
